DIRECTOR · ENTERPRISE AI · TECHNICAL PRODUCT OWNER
Joe Coppola
IT Operations → Product Ownership → Enterprise AI Strategy
I translate between engineering teams and executive stakeholders — and both conversations land. I lead AI products, understand the stack beneath them, and build systems whether at work or at home.
AI SHOWCASE
This website is the experiment.
The dev environment was stood up, the stack selected, and the first commit pushed — all guided by AI. Not by an agency. Not by a dev team. By a product manager with an IT background and a clear vision. If you work in AI and you have not built your own proof of concept yet, this site is the nudge.
The gap between a technically-minded product manager and a developer is syntax and experience — not conceptual understanding. AI closes that gap in real time. Today I stood up a dev environment, selected a stack, scaffolded a Next.js project, wrote and edited code, configured DNS, and pushed a production change from a terminal — all for the first time. That is what AI as a co-pilot actually means.
ABOUT
Engineers respect me. Executives trust me.
MUSIC 🎵
My background in music is not incidental. Musical training develops pattern recognition, creativity, and a feel for rhythm and structure — the same instincts that make an exceptional prompt engineer.
“Crafting a great prompt is compositional — you are arranging context, constraints, tone, and intent the way a musician arranges notes and dynamics. Most engineers approach prompting analytically. I approach it creatively and analytically. That combination produces noticeably better results.”
SYSTEMS THINKING — AT HOME TOO
I treat my home like a production IT environment. Home Assistant running on bare metal with 200+ IoT devices, 2,500+ entities, and 126 custom automations — built on a state machine architecture I designed from scratch. UniFi with strict VLAN segmentation, Z-Wave and Lutron Caseta for reliability, millimeter-wave presence detection, and whole-home energy monitoring down to the circuit level. The same architectural discipline I bring to enterprise AI platforms, applied to a house. It just also makes the coffee.
CAREER
The arc.
Early Career
Desktop Services → Call Center → IT Operations
Started repairing and reimaging laptops in a desktop services depot. Moved into a call center supporting both infrastructure and application problems — where I ranked in the top 1% of representatives organization-wide. Eventually transitioned into IT Operations — configuring servers, switches, mainframe gear, and data centers. Recognized as HDI Analyst of the Year and Technology Service Center Lifesaver of the Year.
Mid Career
Technical Product Ownership
Moved into product as organizations started realizing they needed people who could bridge engineering and the business. Led Agile teams, built product roadmaps, and learned to translate technical complexity into executive-ready language — without losing the substance in the translation.
